Cowles Mountain Summit
A fast 950-foot elevation push over rocky dirt switchbacks right in Mission Trails. Our standard Sunday starter route with panoramic views across the county.
Torrey Pines Razor Point
Craggy sandstone ridges overlooking Pacific ocean breaks with rolling coastal fog and sandstone gullies. Ideal for recovery mornings and conversational trail miles.
Cuyamaca Peak Ridgeline
Paved and fire-road ascent reaching San Diego's second highest elevation point at 6,512 feet. Substantial elevation gain through pine groves and exposed ridgeline wind.
THREE SIMPLE RULES
Pack Two Liters
Wear Broken-In Soles
Pack Out Everything
Southern California trails get arid and exposed quickly by mid-morning. Bring enough water to share with whoever ran out on the switchbacks.
You do not need specialty technical mountaineering boots. Any reliable pair of trail runners or broken-in sneakers with solid rubber traction works.
Leave the chaparral cleaner than we found it. We carry every wrapper, bottle cap, and piece of tape back to the trailhead parking lot.
